A tour is provided each day at 2.00 p.m. by the head gardener who guarantees an insightful view of the varied snowdrop collection and other early spring bulbs. The gardens open from 9.00 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. throughout Snowdrop Week.  Admission is free and participation in the daily tour is €2. Altamont Gardens are an enchanting blend of formal and informal gardens with riverside walks covering over 40 acres and are widely regarded as the jewel in Ireland’s gardening crown. Lawns bisected by sculpted yews slope down to a lake surrounded by rare trees and lead in turn to a very different garden featuring exotic shrubs and trees. The Walled Garden, which features the Corona North Commemorative Border has one of the most unique herbaceous plant collections in the country.
